Virginia E. Smith passed away at the age of 104 on March 12, 2023,
at The Masonic Village at Sewickley. She was born July 24, 1918, at
Sardis, OH and was preceded in death by her beloved husband,
Robert M. Smith in 2012 and daughter Mary E. Smith in 2021.
Surviving are daughter Amy L. Gore (Jeffrey) of Ann Arbor, MI.,
grandchildren: Susan Gore Stevens (Carroll), Thomas M. Gore
(Tracey) and Jonathan S. Gore (Kelly), seven great-grandchildren
and two great-great-granddaughters.
Virginia retired from the Hopewell Area School District in
Aliquippa, in September of 1984, with 32 years of service as a
secretary and several years as the School Board Secretary. She was
an avid flower gardener and a gracious hostess who was devoted to
her home and family. Virginia was a former member of The First
Presbyterian Church of Sewickley, the Sewickley Order of Eastern
Star #439, and Sons and Daughters of Pioneer Rivermen. She was
also a Past Mother Advisor of the Woodlawn Chapter of The Order
of Rainbow for Girls and a former Sewickley Hospital Volunteer.
As per her wishes, Virginia's body has been donated to Humanity
Gifts Registry. Memorial services will be held at a later date. If you
wish, contributions in her memory may be made to the Children's
Dyslexia Center, 3579 Masonic Way, Pittsburgh, PA 15237.
