Sharon de la Fuente, age 79, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2021 peacefully at home with family by her side.
She was born June 9, 1941 in Los Angeles, the youngest of six children. She made homes and friends throughout her life in California, Pennsylvania and Alabama. She is preceded in death by her parents, Cecille Jennings and Roy Hargus, and sisters Jackie Snow, Pat Bailey and Billie Parks.
She is survived by her children, Allison (Frank) DeGeorge of Morgantown, WV; Alissa Kelly (Tim Kinney) of Cullman, AL; Michael Igne (Amber Gentry) of Cullman, AL; and Tamara de la Fuente (John Stabler) of Pittsburgh, PA. Grandchildren: Shawn (Tessa) Kelly, Sioux Falls, SD; Domenick DeGeorge (Nina Lindermaier), Heidelberg, Germany; Courey (Andrew) Leer, Plain City, OH; Vincent DeGeorge, Wheeling, WV; and Stephen DeGeorge (Mai Nguyen), Pittsburgh, PA. Great grandchildren: Caspian, Isla, Santino, Timea, Dorothy and Francis. She is survived by two brothers, Roger (Marie) and James (Ruth) Hargus.
Sharon spent a lifetime curating memories and friends. She took deep pride in her children and grandchildren. She filled her life with energetic colors and food, passions which were expressed in her lifetime career of floral work, orchid growing and catering. She enjoyed her collection of quirky novelties and was always happy to share the celebrated stories of friendship and curiosity that surrounded them.
There will be a small, socially distant, masked Memorial Service Wednesday January 27, 2021 at 2:00 in the afternoon at Baptist Manor, in Castle Shannon.
