VASSEL
SANDRA "SANDY" L. (DONNELLY)
Age 80, entered into eternal rest, on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at her home in Palmyra, with her beloved husband of over 57 years, Ronald J. Vassel, at her side. Sandy was the dear mother of Renee A. (Terry) Owens, Ron A. (Rachael Wonderlin) Vassel and Joseph S. (Connie) Vassel; and the dear grandmother of Robbie and Bella Owens, Sawyer Vassel and Lyndsey, Joey and Parker Vassel. Sandy was born on July 6, 1944, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Arthur J. and Geneva (Painter) Donnelly; and is survived by her sister, Genevieve "Jenny" Lardo; and Ronald "Ronnie" Donnelly; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Thomas "Tommy" Donnelly and Arthur "Brub" Donnelly; and by her sister, Marlene "Lene" Peluso.
Sandy was an exceptional homemaker, who also found great joy in engaging with people, while working at David Crystal, before finding a passion in the eyewear profession, working for Dr. Pera and Campanella Eye Associates. Sandy loved going to work because she loved and invested in her co-workers, who enriched her life and who have continued to hold her in their hearts after progressive supranuclear palsy forced her to retire over five years ago. While Sandy loved baking, bowling, dancing, gardening and shopping, her greatest passions involved time spent with her husband and kids. While her family is heartbroken by her passing, they find solace in the myriad wonderful memories they have of their wife and mother because of a life so rich and passionate and focused on doing the things that matter most-being present and generous with her time, attention and love for family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held in honor of Sandy, on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at ANTHONY M. MUSMANNO FUNERAL HOME, 941 McCoy Rd., McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Sandy to All Seasons Hospice and the CURE PSP Foundation.
