Roy Elmer Cross, Sr.
6/30/31 – 7/20/20
Roy E. Cross, Sr. of Stowe Township went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 20th. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Dorothy. They were married for 60 years. He is survived by his two sons, Roy E. Cross, Jr. (Lisa) and Ronald E. Cross (Angela). Grandfather to Roy E. Cross, III, Eric J. Cross, Elizabeth R. Cross, Matthew A. Cross, and David J. Cross.
He was the last surviving brother of 11 children. He is survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was a 1950 graduate of McKees Rocks High School where he excelled in multiple sports. He worked for P & LE after graduation until he enlisted in the US Navy. He served from 1952 until 1955. He then began a 40+ year career with Duquesne Light being a lineman and foreman. He was very active in the Masons and with the Syria Shriners since 1966. He spent many hours and miles transporting sick children to various Shriner’s Hospitals as one of their “Road Runners”, as well as a member of the Director’s Staff. He also enjoyed many years with family and friends at his camp in Pymatuning. He was a long time member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in McKees Rocks.
Family and friends are welcome 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 pm on Wednesday and Thursday at the Kennedy Township location of the Anthony M. Musmanno Funeral Home, Inc. 941 McCoy Road McKees Rocks,(Kennedy Twp.) PA 15136. Graveside prayers and military services will be conducted at St. Marks Cemetery in Kennedy Twp on Friday at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Shriner’s Hospital.
