Rocco Cersosimo Obituary

Rocco Charles Cersosimo

November 8, 1959 – October 3, 2026

Rocco Charles Cersosimo, Age 66, of Kennedy Township passed away peacefully on the morning of October 3, 2026, surrounded by care at the Medical Intensive Care Unit at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Rocco was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, companion, friend, and disciple of Jesus Christ. His faith was at the center of his life, and he sought to live each day loving and serving others for the glory of the Lord. He will be remembered for his love for his family, his heart for others, and the many lives he touched throughout his life.

Rocco is survived by his four sons, Rocky Cersosimo, Anthony Cersosimo (Ashley), Vincent Cersosimo (Kristina), and Nico Cersosimo (Meghan); his seven beloved grandchildren, Jordan, Jadyn, Gia, Melody, Francesca, Naomi, and Leonidas; his sister Kathy Putas (the late Genn) and his loving girlfriend, Sandy Furmanek.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Rocco and Geraldine Cersosimo.

Rocco was also a beloved and respected basketball referee throughout the greater Pittsburgh area. Officiating was much more than a pastime for Rocco—it was a community he loved and a calling through which he formed countless friendships and impacted generations of players, coaches, officials, and families. In recognition of his contributions to the game and the Pittsburgh basketball community, Rocco was recently named to the Pittsburgh Basketball Club Hall of Fame Class of 2026, an honor that reflects the lasting legacy he leaves behind.

Above all else, Rocco loved Jesus Christ. He dedicated his life to following Him and sought to demonstrate Christ’s love through service, kindness, generosity, and care for others. While his family and friends grieve his passing, they do so with the hope and assurance of the Gospel—that through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, those who place their faith in Him have the promise of eternal life.

Rocco leaves behind a legacy that extends far beyond the basketball court. His greatest legacy is found in the people he loved, the lives he served, and the faith he shared.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7

Though deeply missed, Rocco’s family takes comfort in knowing that his race is finished, his faith has become sight, and he is home with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Anthony M. Musmanno Funeral Home, Inc. 941 McCoy Road McKees Rocks, (Kennedy Township) PA 15136.
