Robert Fleming, III Obituary

Obituary for Robert L. “Rob” Fleming III

Robert L. Fleming III, lovingly known as Rob, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026, at the age of 58, after a hard‑fought battle with MS and underlying conditions. Born on October 6, 1967, Rob was raised in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, and later built a rich and meaningful life in Leesburg, Virginia. He spent his final moments surrounded by those who cherished him deeply.

Rob dedicated his life to his one true passion: culinary arts. A proud graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts, he poured his heart, creativity, and ambition into every dish he crafted. As an executive chef, he brought joy to countless special occasions at the Georgetown Inn, McCormick & Schmick’s, Morton’s of Chicago, and the 1757 Country Club. Cooking was never just a profession for Rob — it was an act of love, a way to create memories, and a way to serve others with excellence.

He was known for his commanding presence and a brilliant smile that could dazzle any room. His work ethic, drive, and ambition were unmatched. Though he carried a rough exterior, those who truly knew him understood he was a marshmallow inside — generous, warm, and deeply devoted to the people he loved.

Rob had an uncanny ability to recall song lyrics and trivia like there was no tomorrow. He also loved quoting movies, often dropping lines that fit the moment perfectly — a signature part of his humor and charm.

His heart remained tied to his Pittsburgh roots. He loved the Pittsburgh Steelers, Mancini’s Bread, Pierogi’s Plus, the Strip District, bacon, and especially barbecue — anything you could throw on a grill. And nothing brought him more comfort than his mother’s chocolate chip cookies and pineapple upside‑down cake, treats he adored his entire life.

Rob is survived by his beloved daughters, Sierra Fleming and Caylie Fleming and their children, who he held close to his heart his entire life. He is also survived by his mother, Margery Yeargin , and his siblings: June Fleming and her husband Ron Krause, Colleen Fleming and her partner Melissa Eady, and Sean Fleming and his wife Tina Fleming. Rob was a treasured uncle to Lauren Fleming, Andrew Fleming and his wife Jess Fleming, Colin Fleming, Shauna Taylor Fleming, Aerionna Vicario, and Ethan Vicario. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Fleming Jr.

Rob’s family takes comfort in knowing that he is now in the presence of Jesus — walking freely once again — as his father wraps his arms around him and reminds him that he was always loved.

Rob’s legacy lives on in the meals he crafted, the memories he created, the quotes he delivered at just the right moment, and the love he shared so generously. His life was a testament to passion, perseverance, and heart.

A celebration of Life gathering will take place on Saturday, September 26, 2026 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Cafe Notte 8070 Ohio River Boulevard Pittsburgh, PA 15202
