Robert Brett Baldwin
Also known as Dad, Peepaw, Baby Bro/Bro, Mr. B, Mr. Baldwin and to many, Brett.
October 30, 1959 – June 8, 2024 (64)
Born: Rahway, NJ
Brett was a man who had a natural ability to see the beauty in everything. He was a blend of intensity and fearlessness. He lived passionately and honestly. When you look up the origin and meaning of the name Baldwin, it says “brave, bold friend,” to which he truly was to so many. Brett always had a magnetism that drew people and opportunities to him in many unexpected ways. He was resourceful, intuitive, and attracted unwavering attention from his storytelling, life experiences, wisdom and was a beacon of light to many friends who sat around his fires or was in his company. He was a genuine friend and good listener who would always lend a helping hand before you could even ask.
Brett was a lover of all things: nature, animals, traveling, plants, gardening, fishing, music, people and the thing in life that means the most, family. Brett is survived by his three sisters, Heather Faille, Lindsey Bozorg and Brooke Dowling. He was preceded in death by his sisters Dawn Gray, Susan Stahl, brother, Scott Baldwin and loving parents Jane (Dockerill) Baldwin, and William "Bill" Baldwin.
Brett moved to Pittsburgh, PA as a young child and graduated from North Allegheny High School. He eventually started a family at a young age with his now, ex-wife, Shelle Steffler Baldwin and together had six children, Lara Houk (Jeff Biller), Terrah Baldwin (Danny Coco), Brandon Baldwin (Jennifer Cesar), Jessika Keefer (Michael Keefer), Andrew Baldwin, and Stephany Baldwin. In addition, Karen Vandling and son, Tommy Vandling have been by his side, loving and supporting him for the past 15 years, and together they enjoyed being “Peepaw and Grammie Karen” to the twelve grandchildren who are loved so dearly, Jaylyn Houk, Lucy Houk, Brynn Biller, Jackson Coco, London Baldwin, Lennox Baldwin, Kyus Keefer, Aris Keefer, Brenson O’Dell, Demi O’Dell, Mira O’Dell, and Brecken Baldwin. Brett also leaves behind many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
Brett was an over-the-top funny man. His humor was quick, infectious, unbelievable and often a healing experience. He was a strong and natural athlete, rich with love from the people who he saw, helped and loved. He walked his own path, without a care about what others may think. He walked with dignity, courage and confidence and succeeded in any challenge that faced him. Brett was a self-employed professional painter but had many extraordinary talents and gifts, a great visionary. His tolerance for pain that he endured throughout the last few years has been no surprise to those who know his undeniable strength, yet he left medical teams unbelievably impressed and astonished with his indomitable spirit. Brett was a rock in our family to many and a fun-loving, kindhearted Peepaw to his grandchildren. He really was a one-of-a kind man and the coolest Dad in the history of Dads.
Brett was the hardest worker in every setting and a true giver. So, to continue in his giving ways, his body was donated to science for the medical field to study. No funeral or viewing is planned. In honor of Brett Baldwin, the family will be having a “Party for Life” celebration pig roast in Darlington, PA on “The Hill” on Saturday, August 17th, 2024. All are welcome to pay your respects and as always, bring a covered dish if you wish. In lieu of flowers or donations, the family asks you to plant a tree, flower, or scrub in your yard in his loving memory. For more information about body donation, please visit: www.hgrpa.org
