Richard W. Nagy, age 95, passed away on August 19th, 2025. He was born in Johnstown, PA to Charles K. and Ida Nagy who preceded him in death along with his three siblings; Charles K. Jr., Ida (Koffee), and Elizabeth (Lizzy).
Dick graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, class of 1957; Johnstown High School, class of 1950. He played basketball for Pitt Johnstown, 1950-1952. He was a veteran of the Korean War (1952-54).
Dick married his wife, Phyllis (Janet Tomb), of almost 70 years on September 4th, 1955. They moved to Pittsburgh, and lived for 59 years in Monroeville, PA. He is survived by his wife, their two beloved daughters, Dr. Christine (Michael) and Cathleen (Douglas) and four cherished grandchildren; Claire, Russell, Michael, and Lindsay.
Dick worked as a chemist and retired in 1999 from Koppers Company, developing coating and roofing materials.
There will be no viewing as Dick donated his body to science. Please, if you want to remember him, do something kind for someone, and everyone you love each day.
Dick was a member of Saint Johns Lutheran Church, New Castle, PA, and a former member, for over 50 years, of The Good Shepard Lutheran Church, Monroeville, PA.
