Paul Bingham Obituary

Paul Harrison Bingham - July 1, 1934 - December 31, 2021

Paul passed away peacefully on Friday, December 31, 2021.  He was born July 1, 1934 to the late Ellen (Quail) Bingham. He grew up on the North Side and graduated from Perry High School. After high school, he joined the Navy and served in the Korean War, on the mighty USS Betelgeuse. Upon returning home from the service, he attended Point Park College, where he got a degree in Business and Marketing. He went on to become a pioneer in the relatively new field of contact lenses, publishing articles and building up sales forces across the country. Paul was an enthusiastic joke teller and an eloquent speaker, which is part of the reason for his success in sales, not to mention his sparkling, good-natured Irish charm. He assisted many contact lens companies in exceeding their sales quotas year after year.  After retiring from 30 years as a sales executive, he relocated back to his beloved Pittsburgh where he held the position of Township Manager of Kennedy Township for 10 years, and served on their zoning commission. Because of his “Steel Town” work ethic, after retiring from Kennedy Township he served as an usher at Heinz Field, where he entertained many season ticket holders.

In 1960, he met the love of his life, Louise, and married her 6 months later. They were married for 58 years until her passing in 2019. They shared many adventures, moving to many states across the country and raising their 3 children.

Paul is survived by his beloved YOUNGER sister Bonnie (Bingham) Graf, his devoted children Kathleen (Michael) Levine, Kelli (Robert) Brown and Tony (Dana) Bingham. Nothing brought Paul greater pleasure than to be surrounded by his cherished grandchildren, the lights of his life, Jacob Paul and Zoey Louise Brown, Noah Michael and Kalli Bess Levine, and Jack Harrison Bingham. Paul is also survived by many nieces and nephews and numerous cousins, all of whom he loved dearly.

Friends and family are welcome Thursday, January 6th from 2-4PM and 6-7:30PM, with a small mass at 7:30PM. Burial ceremony will be held at the Allegheny National Cemetery on Monday January 10th at 1:00PM.
