Natalina Lauria 12/25/1922 to 05/21/21
On Friday May 21st, 2021 Mom's spirit returned to her Family and to the high mountains of Fagnana Castello, Calabria, from whence they came. Born on Christmas Day 1922, by midwife, Mom was placed in a colander, and had a strand of spaghetti stuck on her. She would always say; "and I've been making pasta ever since". In true Calabrese Tradition, Being born on Christmas Day Mom named her self, Natalina, for the Nativity. She was the seventh daughter of a seventh daughter born on Christmas to Antonio and Gennerina Avolio. The true Matriarch of her Clan. She was Completely devoted to her brothers and sisters. Her brothers; Orlando, Francisco, Sanquino, Guglielmo and Sinbaldo, her beloved sisters, Maria Catanzariti, Brandoria Straccia and Jeanette Spisak, now all deceased.
She married the late, great Jimmy, (Sheriff) Lauria and is survived by her sons; James J. Lauria, Jr.and Genieve, Denny and Sandy Lauria and Dean and Trish Lauria.
Her Grand Children; James Anthony Lauria, Salvatore Lauria, Lucia and Ryan Gabbard, Julia and Manny Andrews, Annabella DeFrasia, Annie and Danny Smith.
Her Great Grand Children, Marcus, Jackson and Colton Smith and Olivia and Thea Dora Gabbard.
Natalina had strong beliefs, a rosary everyday, clean house, Italian Cooking and Family Love and togetherness. When cooking she would say, every ingredient was touched "con amore" (with love), Her Roman Nobility and her Italian cooking so renowned that in the "old neighborhood they would say; "If her prayers couldn't heal you then her pasta fagiola could". That was Mom..
The Lauria Family would like to thank the men and women of the Greentree Manorcare and Heartland Hospice that took such incredibly loving care of Mom.
