Mildred (Stepanchak) Lawrence of South Glastonbury, CT, passed away peacefully the morning of Sunday, March 27, 2022, at the age of 95. She was born to Catherine and Charles Stepanchak on May 25, 1926, in McKees Rocks, PA.
Mildred, known to all as Millie, married John Lawrence in September 1948, and lived in the Pittsburgh area where they raised their family. Adept at balancing both family life and career, Millie worked as an Executive Secretary for several companies, most notably Duquesne Light, retiring after more than 20 years. In retirement, Millie and John moved to Stowe, VT, and later she settled in Connecticut, where she lived with her daughter, Denise.
Millie was a devout Catholic whose faith guided her life and inspired others. She practiced her faith, praying daily, forgiving quickly, living humbly, and rarely having an unkind word to say about anyone she met. She was an excellent cook, and loved to clean, knit, and read. She had a quick wit and a fiery temper, was lovingly stubborn, and opened her home to everyone. It is a testament to a life well-lived that everyone agrees she went too soon.
She is survived by her younger sister, Florence Dickinson; daughter Denise Lawrence, granddaughter Melissa Lawrence, her partner Lee Mozakis and their daughter Millie Rose; and granddaughter Jennifer Lawrence, husband Patrick McGinley, and their daughters Amelia and Alice. She also leaves behind a large and loving extended family, and a large circle of friends that she made part of that family along the way. She is preceded in death by her husband John, son Kenneth Lawrence, and sisters Stephanie Stepanchak and Helen Ban.
Family and Friends are welcome for visitation on Sunday, April 03, 2022 at the Kennedy Township location of the Anthony M. Musmanno Funeral Home, Inc. 941 McCoy Road McKees Rocks, Pa 15136 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 04, 2022 at 11:00 am Archangel Gabriel Parish, St. Mary Church. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
