Michael Hurka

Michael Hurka, age 59 of Stowe Twp., passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 19, 2024. Michael was born October 15, 1964. He graduated from Sto-Rox High School in 1982 and from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1986. Following a successful career as an internation fashion model living in Barcelona, Milan and Tokyo, Michael returned to his Stowe Township roots, working first as a stockbroker, then as a mortgage broker. He suffered a tragic head injury in 2001, causing him to end his professional career. Michael was a devoted caregiver for his mother until her passing in 2020 and recently began working as a Security Guard at the Rivers Casino. He loved music, plants and animals. 

Michael was the beloved son of the late Frank V. Hurka and Betty Rose Hurka; father of Sydney Stern; brother of Robert (Mary) Hurka and Susan (Don) Satina; and uncle of James and Katie Hurka and Eric Satina. He will be dearly missed by his friends and family. 

Family and friends are welcome for visitation on Tuesday, January 23 from 1:00 pm to 3:00pm and 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Kennedy Twp., location of the Anthony M. Musmanno Funeral Home., Inc., 941 McCoy Rd., McKees Rocks, PA (Kennedy Twp.) 15136. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00 am at Archangel Gabriel Parish, St. Mary Church, McKees Rocks. Interment will follow at St. Mark's Cemetery.
