Martin Lyscik (MO) Obituary

Age 73, passed away on January 30, 2023, following a sudden illness. Son of the
late Henry Andrew Lyscik and the late Helen (Prugar). Survived by his brother
Randall (Nancy) and cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and nephews.
Marty was a kind, caring, intelligent, and imaginative person. He was devoted to
his Catholic faith and his current parish, Archangel Gabriel, and its predecessors,
Saints Cyril and Methodius and St. John of God. As a child, he early exhibited a
desire to become a priest and given his active imagination, this even crept into his
play with his brother. This was in the days before video games and the internet.
While his brother wanted him to play army or space explorers, Marty would
rather play priest and altar server. His brother remembers one compromise
where Randy struggled to fight off Martians assaulting their spaceship because
they could not take off until Father Marty blessed a screwdriver that was serving
as the rocket ship's throttle. While Marty did not follow his early priestly
ambitions, he was proud to be an altar server, usher, and Holy Name Society
member and faithful parishioner. He suffered from health issues his entire life
but always maintained his friendly, positive, and cheerful outlook. He was
especially grateful for and happy with his career at the Federal Home Loan Bank
of Pittsburgh, where he worked for many years in the accounting and customer
service areas. After retirement, he busied himself taking care of his house and
yard and following all the Pittsburgh sports teams and NASCAR racing. We will
never forget the cards he provided at holidays and times of celebration, with their
contents of “Mo Money.” Even the pets received their share.
Family and friends will be received at 6-8 pm on Saturday, February 4, and Sunday,
