Lucille Amasino, age 93, passed away peacefully at home on July
13, 2025. She was born in Scranton, PA and grew up in
Braddock. Lucille was the daughter of the late Andrew and Helen
Petrick. She graduated from Scott High in Braddock in 1949 and
earned a bachelor’s degree from Carlow College. Lucille was a
teacher for many years but had a wide variety of jobs throughout
her life; including waitressing & catering, repairing transmissions,
furniture restoration and greeting customers at Walmart.
Lucille was an avid dancer in her youth and won many a Jitterbug
contest with her dance partner “Stoogie”. She was often scolded
by her parents for sneaking out of the house to go to dance halls
all over Pittsburgh.
Lucille loved to travel and enjoyed many adventures with her
sisters Mary Ann and Maxine (deceased). They traveled through
Europe together and visited distant relatives in Slovakia. She also
toured the western United States twice, in different campers, both
of which were less than road-worthy, every break-down and
detour became a story to laugh about later.
Lucille had a generous heart, always welcoming and never
passed up the opportunity to help someone in need.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband Richard Amasino
and her daughter Alison Amasino. She is survived by her son
Richard (Jan) Amasino, and daughters Lori (Mark) Kovacs and
Marilyn (Paul) Ohr. She has five grandchildren Audra (Dori)
Amasino, Diana (Jan) Amasino, Victor (Rachel) Nichols, Nicole
Kovacs and Luke Ohr. She loved her family well, especially her
grandchildren, in whom she took great pride. They will miss her
carefree spirit, her intense focus, and all the joy and love that she
brought to their lives. The adventures of “Grammy” will be told for
generations with a heartfelt smile.
Per Lucille’s wishes, there will be no service, she had a long-
standing plan to donate her body to science. Lucille always said
that she lived a great life, had a lot of fun and caused a little bit of
trouble along the way!
