Lois Smith Obituary

Lois Jane Smith
May 6, 1955 – June 8, 2025

Lois Jane (Sipes) Smith, of Baldwin, formerly of Arlington and Mt. Oliver, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025, at the age of 70.

Born on May 6, 1955, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Lois lived a life full of love, grace, and quiet strength. She was married to her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Ray Smith. Together, they shared more than 50 years of deep devotion, laughter, and unwavering support—a love story that touched everyone who knew them.

Lois and Ray built a beautiful life and family together. She was a proud and loving mother to Michelle (Smith) Fulton, married to Chad, and Timothy Smith, married to Erin (Logue). Her greatest joy was being "Nana" to her beloved grandchildren, Jackson and Ian, who brought her endless happiness and pride.

Lois was known for her kind heart, gentle presence, and deep sense of loyalty to those she loved. She found joy in life’s simple moments—family dinners, warm conversations, and the comfort of home. She especially loved playing cards with family and friends, always with a glass of wine in hand and a smile on her face. By her side through it all was her best friend since third grade, Diane Gabriel—a lifelong friendship that meant the world to her.

She wanted to share a special message of gratitude to Ray: a heartfelt thank you for taking care of her, for being her rock, her best friend, and her everything throughout the years.

Lois was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Lois and Jim Sipes, and by her sister Linda (Sipes) King along with her brother-in-law William King and sister-in-law Debbie Smith.

She is survived by her dear brother Jim Sipes, who stood by her through life’s joys and challenges with unwavering support. She was also blessed with the love of Ray’s siblings—Harry Smith, Gene Smith, Louise (Bill) Ringling, and Clare (Joe) Cottrill—who were more than in-laws to her; they were truly her family. Lois cherished the closeness they all shared, the laughter, the memories, and the years of unconditional love. She was deeply grateful for the way they embraced her as a sister, offering companionship, strength, and kindness through every season of life. She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

Lois will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, compassion, and strength will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
