Laura Susan Jenkins, age 60, of Crafton passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by loved ones on November 14, 2024. She was born April 27, 1964, to Steve and Marlane Jenkins.
Laura had the strongest heart even with the weakest body. She had an exuberant amount of love for her family and friends. Laura was sincerely a selfless person who put everyone else first. Laura was a truly dedicated Pitt fan! She absolutely loved going to the football games. It didn’t matter if it was pouring down rain, snowing and cold, or the brightest sunshine, she was there to cheer on her Panthers! Laura was also a diehard Pittsburgh sports fan. She loved playing Scrabble with her family and dear friends Becky and Donna. She loved Bingo and gambling at the casino. Most of all, she loved family vacations and traveling.
Laura graduated from Gateway Senior High School in Monroeville. She then went on to graduate from the University of Pittsburgh. After college, Laura started working at the VA Medical Center where she spent her entire career in the Medical Records Department.
Laura was preceded in death by her father, Steve Jenkins.
She is survived by her beloved cat Toby; her best friend Carl; her mother Marlane Jenkins; brother Steve Jenkins, Jr.; sister Lisa (Len) Oakes; sister Melissa (Scott) Wyatt; and brother Mike (Kathy) Jenkins. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Miranda (Steve) Schmidt; Kody (Chrissy) Jenkins; Justin Ryan; Alexa Jenkins; Austin and Erica Wyatt and her great nephews Kolton and Kaycen Jenkins. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
After her lifetime struggles with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and the many complications that came with it, Laura generously donated her body to science at her Alma Mater, The University of Pittsburgh.
Laura was truly an inspiration to all that knew her. She had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh, despite her pain, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed her path. She will be tremendously missed by all.
“I ached and yearned for that imaginary place, the one where I had no pain and I could breathe. Now I sit here with God, with natures beauty and astounding light; and now, I feel no pain and I can finally breathe!”
A Celebration of Life to honor the life of Laura will be held at a later date.
