Age 73, formerly of Kennedy Township, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, January 05, 2024. Beloved wife of 49 and a half years to Stephan M. Kosarych. Dear mother of Mark (Jen) Kosarych and Larissa (Jeff) Pilling. Grandmother of Alaina, Max and Eddie Kosarych and Jeffrey Pilling. Sister of Helen (Benji) Smarra. Daughter of the late Edward and Bertha Roznowski. Karen studied elementary education at Slippery Rock University and upon graduation, went on to teach second grade for 34 years at Sto-Rox School District.  She obtained a master’s degree in library science from Duquesne University in 1974.  She was a dedicated educator and passionate about children’s literature and she generously built up the libraries of her grandchildren over time.  In her adulthood, Karen enjoyed collecting and trying new recipes and she spent hours of her summer with her flower gardens.  Karen was a history buff and an avid politico.  She was a loving wife, mother and most of all, grandmother.  Karen will be remembered for her strength, humor and generosity.  Family and friends are welcome on Tuesday 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Anthony  M. Musmanno Funeral Home, Inc. 941 McCoy Road McKees Rocks, Pa 15136. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 am in Archangel Gabriel Parish, St. Malachy Church. Burial will follow at St. Marks Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. http://stjude.org
