Joseph W. Bayer of Kennedy Twp.,

A cherished husband, father, grandfather,great grandfather,  passed away peacefully May 22nd at the age of 95.

Joe’s almost 10 decades life journey began November 1st 1930 (All Saints Day) in a world vastly different from the one he departed on May 22nd 2026.  Joe’s life was a testament to his dedication to his country, his family, his church, and his community all of which he loved , embracing the simplicity of life over grandeur . Joe was very active serving as a volunteer in the Boy Scouts, Indian Princesses, St Malachy’s and St. Mary’s churches, St Vincent DePaul Society, American Legion, finding contentment in the present moment through meaningful relationships and daily rituals. He left an indelible mark serving those less fortunate, always offering encouragement and assistance to any person experiencing challenging times.  His actions were authentic and deliberate, without ever feeling the pressure to impress others.

Joe served his Country during the Korean Conflict and honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corp. He then began a 39 year tenure with Williams and Co. Inc. starting as an inventory clerk and retiring as Corporate Operations Manager.

Joe and his wife of 70 years Anna R (Liguori)  raised four children;  Joseph A. (Susan), Edward A. (Monica), Catherine (Thomas) Goehring, and Jennifer (Jan) Carlos.  With them came along 11 Grand Children;  Emily (Zach)Gall, Halley (Nick) Gigler,  Sara Vasquez Parra, Sebastian Vasquez Parra, Daniela Parra, Brian Bayer, Rachel Bayer,  Andrew Goehring, Kimberly (Derek) Leale, Benjamin Goehring, Kidareo Bayer-Carlos, AND……Three Great Grandchildren; Clark Gigler, Samantha Parra Jaramillo, Christian Vasquez Parra.

Joe is additionally survived by brothers and sisters; Mary Elizabeth (Dennis) Kumpfmiller, Helen Mae (late Richard) Setzenfand, Frank (Mary) Bayer, Anna Jane Bayer, Roberta Bayer, and many nieces and nephews. His predeceased siblings are William (Dolores) Bayer, Florence (Lawrence) Haywiser, and Eleanor (Dave) Devlin.

Joe’s commitment to his family was unmatched by his dedication to following his kids and grandkids celebrating their achievements in Scouting, musicals, theatrical events, athletic events, majorette and cheerleading, college graduations, and the list goes on. If he could be there, he was there.

Joe’s life was one of purpose and impact . His  influence and values will continue to resonate as his legacy through the lives of those that Joe touched.  As we bid our final farewell to his mission here on earth, we celebrate his life rich in experience and abundant in love.

Family and friends are welcome for visitation on Thursday, May 28, 2026 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Anthony M. Musmanno Funeral Home, Inc. 941 McCoy Road McKees Rocks (Kennedy Township) PA 15136. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 29, 2026 at 10:30 am in St. Malachy Church. Burial with Military Honors will follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
