John Richard Hanobik

John Richard Hanobik, age 62 of Kennedy Township, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of August 1, 2024 surrounded by his wife and son. John was a loving, compassionate, and humorous man who brought light to each room he entered.

John was born on February 20, 1962 to John and Josephine at Ohio Valley Hospital in Kennedy Township. After graduating from Langley High School, John went on to earn a Bachelor of Science from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master of Science from Robert Morris University. After marrying the love of his life in 1986, John and his wife Kathryn welcomed their only son, Jonathan, in 1995. An inseparable family, the three enjoyed going out to dinner, playing board games, and traveling the world together. John worked at Highmark in downtown Pittsburgh where he was beloved by all who had the opportunity to work alongside him. His love for technology, robotics, and drones was evident in the many nights and evenings spent on these passions.

He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Kathryn (Paul) Hanobik, and proud son, Jonathan. John was preceded in death by his father, John (2011) and mother, Josephine (1998) as well as close relatives. Those who mourn John include sisters Kathleen (Rod) Clarida and Patricia (Alan) Dolansky, as well as in-laws Doug (Elisa) Paul, Gary (Judy) Paul, and Kimberly (Jim) Dolan. Nieces and nephews include Natasha (Sean) Brooks, Lisa (Greg) Conner, Linda (Eric) Kricks, Marina (Sean) DiStefano, Elena (Trystan) Sharer, Lianna (Jake) Paul, Christina (Zach) Panza, James Dolan, Natalie Paul, Gary Paul, Jacki Dolan, and John Dolan. Countless friends and other family members join alongside those listed above in celebrating the life of an incredible man.

A viewing will be held at Anthony M. Musmanno Funeral Home (941 McCoy Road / McKees Rocks, PA 15136) from 2:00 - 8:00 PM on Sunday, August 4, 2024. On Monday, August 5, 2024, a mass of Christian burial will be held in honor of John at St. Malachy Church of Archangel Gabriel Parish at 10:00 AM. A private burial will be held at Resurrection Cemetery in Moon Township.
