Joan Vuljanic Obituary

Vuljanic

Joan (Ricci)

Of McKees Rocks, age 63, died peacefully at home, surrounded by her family and loved ones on November 7, 2022. Joan was born on May 18, 1959 to (both late) Anthony and Frances Ricci. Anthony and Frances raised their family in Wilkinsburg, and later moved to Lawrenceville by the time Joan was in high school. Joan attended Lawrenceville Catholic High School, and it was here that she met her high school sweetheart and beloved husband of 44 years, Richard Vuljanic. One of the best adjectives to describe Joan was passionate. The thing that she was most passionate about was her family. Joan and Richard raised two beautiful daughters. She was the loving mother of Hilary Vuljanic and Victoria (Travis Crump) Vuljanic, both of McKees Rocks, and very proud Nunna to Adelina Serrapere. Joan is survived by her older brother Glenn (Susan) Ricci of FL, and her twin brother Eugene (Karen) Ricci of Forest Hills. She was also the loving sister-in-law of Peter (Shirley) Vuljanic of St. Claire, and Kathleen (Don) Proto of Bentleyville. Joan is also preceded in death by her sister Anna Marie Lucas. Joan was also the caring mother to Oliver “Bubbers”, Luna, and many fur-babies throughout her life.In addition to her family, Joan was passionate about taking care of other people. She was famous for greeting her family and friends with her signature “hi friend”. She was also genuinely caring enough to give them a reality check with a “hell to the no” or a “JS”.  Joan also cared for others by being the life of every get-together. Specifically, she knew that the key to a good time began with her gift of an amazing home-cooked meal, and she knew how to keep the party going with some Calico Jack and a cigarette.Joan was also passionate about many of the little things in life. She loved a good Hallmark movie, HGTV, the Food Network, and the ID channel; She loved entertaining family and friends at their family pool; She also took pride in her eye for Christmas decorating; She also occasionally made it known that she did not care for Donald Trump, Tom Brady, or Direct TV.In return, for the passion that Joan showed to others, all of her family and friends were passionate about their pride in knowing her, their admiration of her hard-fought battle with breast cancer, and the joy that they found in loving her and being her friend throughout her life.
