Joan M. (Rubolino) Boni

Joan Marlene Boni, eighty-eight, a lifetime resident of McKees Rocks, took her final bows and exited as she lived – gracefully – on Saturday, April 19, 2025.  Born October 9, 1936, the first child of the late Joseph and Eleanor (DeCenzo) Rubolino.  Joan is preceded in death by the love of her life, her devoted husband, Richard David Boni, of Coraopolis.  She is survived by her cherished son, the Honorable Bruce Joseph Boni, Esquire, also of McKees Rocks, and her beloved siblings, Frank “Sonny” Rubolino, Kenneth Rubolino and Linda (Rubolino) Knezevich.  Joan is also survived by doting nieces and nephews, including Elizabeth “Niki” Rubolino, Kyle Knezevich, Jimmy Boni, Donna (Boni) Longstreth, Joelene (Boni) Maslanik, Jeffrey Boni, Jennifer (Boni) Neville, Larry Kugel. 

For fifty wonderful years, Joan and Richard were the proud proprietors of Boni’s Floral Shoppe in McKees Rocks.  Over the decades, Joan’s extraordinary artistic talents at floral design were on display during thousands of milestone occasions in customers’ lives, including weddings, birthdays, holiday celebrations and whenever someone just wanted to “say it with flowers.”  Over the years, Joan even took many a call to the shop from a frantic husband who queried, “how much is it going to cost me to get out of the doghouse?”

Joan loved live theatre in all its forms.  As a longstanding season ticketholder, she regularly attended productions at the Benedum Center, Heinz Hall and the Pittsburgh Public Theater.  Since childhood, Joan remained a devout fan of Broadway musicals.  In virtually any conversation, if reference to a musical number perchance came up, she would unabashedly burst into song, and if her companions were lucky, she might delight them with a few companion dance steps too.  Joan lived life with a smile on her face and a song in her heart.
