Gertrude “Gert” Marie Nash, 90, of Cheswick, passed away Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022, surrounded by the love of her family both in person and in spirit. There will be a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Guardian Angels Parish, Our Lady of Victory campus, 1319 Low Grade Road, Harwick, PA 15049, for family and friends, followed by a lunch to remember and celebrate her life. Gertrude was born Sept. 1, 1932, the daughter of the late Edward J Blotzer and Gertrude (Madigan) Blotzer, of Swissvale. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, William Nash; and her brothers, Edward "Jack" (Kay) Blotzer, Thomas Blotzer, and her twin brother, Paul (Joanne) Blotzer. She is survived by four children, Maureen (Jim) Augustine, Mary Lynn Nash, Bobby Nash and William (Janice) Nash; three grandchildren, Christina Nash, Adam Nash and Kevin Nash; and four great-grandchildren Brianna, Jocelyn, Chasidy and Christopher. Family was of the greatest importance to Gertrude and the love and warmth she showed each person will be deeply and forever treasured. She loved family gatherings in her backyard, and she cherished her long-term friends and neighbors. After graduating from Oakland Catholic High School, she attended Pittsburgh Hospital School of Nursing and became a registered nurse. She retired from nursing after working at Harmarville Rehabilitation Center. She spent a lifetime of taking care of family and patients, and for the last three years, she was most appreciative of others taking care of her at Paramount Senior Living. As a long-term member of St. Alphonsus and Our Lady of Victory churches, her faith helped her focus on gratitude and keep a positive outlook on life. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Verland Foundation, 212 Iris Road, Sewickley, PA 15143, or donations online to verland.org.
