Francis "Frank" J. Schmittlein Jr., born on February 28, 1953, of the Northside of Pittsburgh passed away suddenly among close family on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 after celebrating his 70th Birthday.
Preceded in death by his parents Francis Sr. and Irene Schmittlein, Frank is survived by his beloved wife Jan Schmittlein of 35 years; four loving children, Kellie (Karla), Alexandra, Sabrina, and Joseph; granddaughter, BilliAnn; and beloved sisters Margie (Late Charles) Heiser and Donna (Tom) Holderman.
Frank truly loved his two sisters-in-law, Jeanne Swanson and Connie (Tony) Diulus; favorite cousin Carol, and lifetime friends Gary Gonzales and John Puhac. Frank was a very proud uncle and mentor to; Travis, Anthony, Michael, Christopher, Ian, Erin, Katelyn, and Will; and will be missed by many family and friends.
Frank was a member of the Cement Masons Union of Pittsburgh and was known as "Mr. Fix-it" to his family, always rigging something up. He was known to Jan’s friends as the “Stainmaster” and could get a stain out of anything. Most days he enjoyed spending time outside working on cars and lawn mowers, doing laundry, and hanging in his mancave having a beer.
Family and Friends will be received on Saturday, March 4, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00pm and Sunday, March 5, 2023 from 2:00 to 8:00pm at the Anthony M. Musmanno Funeral Home, 941 McCoy Road, Kennedy Township, PA 15136. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, March 6, 2023 at 11:00am at Archangel Gabriel Parish, St. Malachy Church. Burial will be held privately.
