David Bruce Kennedy died peacefully at home after an incredibly valiant battle with throat cancer. Originally from Akron, Ohio, he was a long-time resident of Crafton. He was educated at St.Vincent College, Ohio State University and McGill University. After living in Rome, Italy for a number of years, he made Pittsburgh his home. David was an exceptional photographer and had a freelance career for over forty years. Blessed with an intellectual curiosity and a creative, inquiring mind, he was widely well-read and self-taught in many areas. Most notably as a cook, painter, horticulturalist, woodworker and as a designer and creator of stained glass windows. His glasswork hangs in a number of local residences, including his own. David was a lively conversationalist and raconteur, whose sense of humor graced many family gatherings. He loved sports and was particularly a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates. He also had a passion for music, specifically Jazz, Blues and Classical. One of his greatest joys towards the end of his life (including online shopping) was spending time with his grandchildren, McClain Arnette (6) and Jovin Arnette (3) and fostering their creativity. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Janet Glanville, daughter, Devin Arnette (Joshua) and brothers Eldon Kennedy and Bruce Kennedy. He will be missed by family and close friends as well. David donated his body to science. A celebration of life is to be announced. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to WESA FM as David was a decades long listener of National Public Radio.
