Carole Lynn Knight

Carole (Nolfi) Knight, age 62, of Kennedy Township, passed away on June 13, surrounded by her family after a long, difficult fight with Alzheimer’s Disease. She is shedding the heavy yoke of her disease and joining in eternity her beloved husband Ronald “Ronnie” Knight and her parents Angelo “Joe” & Theresa Nolfi. She is survived by her son Jacob Knight, her siblings, Theresa (Bruce) Carnahan, Joe (Susan) Nolfi, and David (Therese) Nolfi, as well as her niece and nephews.

Widowed when her son was 5 months old,she courageously decided to change careers after working many years in the radiology department at Ohio Valley. After earning a Masters’ Equivalency in teaching from Robert Morris University, she became a reading and English teacher at the Fort Cherry School District, enabling her to follow her passions of helping children at a critical time in their development and instilling in them a love for reading and belief in themselves. Her students regularly earned high PSSA reading scores, and consequently she received awards recognizing her hard work. Yet she was most proud of the lasting and nurturing relationships she built with her students and colleagues.  

Despite experiencing many adversities in life, Carole gave her all to help those she cared about. She defended her family and friends with a ferocity derived from her soft spot for underdogs and those she loved. Those who knew her well knew that a tender heart lay underneath her strong exterior. Carole had an infinite capacity for love and understanding, and will be sadly missed. We can best honor Carole’s life by greeting strangers with a smile, being an advocate for the voiceless, and keeping space in our hearts for those experiencing hardship.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Carole’s life. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 17, 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Anthony M. Musmanno Funeral Home, Inc. in Kennedy Township. 941 McCoy Road McKees Rocks, Pa 15136.
