Carol Costello Obituary

Carol Jean (Colbert) Costello, 81, surrounded by her loving family, passed into the arms of Jesus on November 6, 2023. Carol, a daughter of the late Francis and Grace (Welch) Colbert, was welcomed to life on March 22, 1942 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. She enjoyed a 33 year career at Giant Eagle before retiring.  Carol was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Billie Lee Colbert; brother, Francis "Chip" Colbert III; brother-in-law, James Scouten; nephew, Adam Scouten; and many other deeply loved family and friends. To honor and cherish her memory, Carol was survived by her children, Deborah (Jeff) Pennesi; Erin (Robert) Hochendoner, and Joseph (Deborah) Costello. She was the best Nana to Chelsea Grace Williams, Lindsay Marie Hochendoner, Cassidy Marie (Matthew) Moore, Tori Jean Hochendoner, and Joseph Riley Costello. She was anticipating the birth of her first great grandchild, precious baby Moore. Carol is also survived by her adoring sisters, Beverly (Melvin) Edwards, Corinne Scouten, Penny (Joseph) Kinney, Trudy Robbins and many deeply loved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Carol so appreciated the care and support that her dear friend and neighbor, William Stilley and his family, gave her over the years.  Carol so generously and selflessly gifted herself to Humanities Gift Registry at the University of Pittsburgh for the intention to study and research. This gift is in the care of and being arranged by Anthony M. Musmanno Funeral Home and Chapel; McKees Rocks, Kennedy Township. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Carol was so proud and supportive of all whom she loved. She was her family's biggest cheerleader by attending every sporting event, performing arts recital, and major life event. Her presence was enormous. Carol fully enjoyed music, square dancing, line dancing, watching Jeopardy!, cheering on all of the Pittsburgh sports teams, and following her favorite, Patrick Mahomes. She cherished snow birding with her sisters in Florida. She treasured her time at the family cottage at Canadohta Lake. Her true passion was anything and everything her kids were involved in. She was an excellent cook and baker. She was a true animal lover and will be missed by Daisy Mae and Buster Lee.  Carol was the greatest mother, the cutest Nana ever, and the best giver of hugs. She led by example and taught her family the true meaning of love and what true love looks like. Carol, a child of God, is now in Paradise and was welcomed by Our Lord and Savior, her loving family, Misty Sundance, and Fletcher Boy.  “Goodnight. I love you. See you in the morning." Until we meet again, you will forever be in our hearts.
