SORGE
Rev. Arvin Wesley
Rev. Arvin Wesley Sorge, of Carnegie, Pennsylvania, went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 16, 2020, due to complications of old age.
Born February 22, 1924 in the desert foothills of southwestern Saskatchewan, Arvin grew to be a strapping gentle giant with amazing strength of body and spirit. He followed a call to ministry, spending 25 years serving congregations in Alberta and British Columbia before moving to upstate New York where he enjoyed the final 20 years of his ministry with the Assemblies of God. He loved his Lord and he loved his vocation. His congregations, friends, and family knew and trusted him as a man of unswerving godly character. He was as kind and tender as he was tall and strong.
His beloved partner of 69 years in life and ministry, Irma (Roller) Sorge, preceded him in death by eight months. Arvin is survived by sons Rev. Sheldon Sorge (Carnegie PA) and Rev. Bob Sorge (Kansas City MO), daughters-in-law Rev. Tammy Wiens and Marci Sorge, grandchildren Sonya Campbell, Rev. Stephanie Sorge, Joel Sorge, Katie Hebbert, and Michael Sorge, plus ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his older sister, Alva MacFarlane of Pickering ON.
The family expresses its heartfelt thanks for the loving care given to Arvin by the wonderful staff of Sunrise of Upper St. Clair.
Due to the COVID pandemic, no in-person visitation will take place. Memorial gifts may be made to any world mission organization of the donor’s choice. Gifts donated through Oasis House, www.oasishouse.com, will also be channeled to world mission.
A family memorial service will be held in December, and a memorial tribute will be posted on the Oasis House website.
