To Chris and family, we want to extend our sincere sympathy. We feel fortunate to have known Tom and have always enjoyed our sailing experiences with him. We are hoping to be at the funeral service today, but may not make it due to bad weather and road conditions. We wanted to let you know that our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

My sincere condolences to the family and friends, so sorry for your loss. Please find comfort in knowing that Jehovah God will soon resurrect our dear loved ones (John 5:28-29). Oh how we long for the day when pain, suffering and death will be no more, these former things will have passed away (Revelation 21:3-5).

Some of my favorite books were courtesy of Doc Hohler’s class. My condolences to the family- he was an amazing teacher.

Our deepest sympathy to Chris and the rest of the Hohler family. This was a terrible shock to us; we had lost contact with Tom when our own sailing days ended, and had no idea Tom had been ailing. Tom (with Chris's deep sailing skills and patience in the front of the boat) was the consummate take-no-prisoners Flying Scot helmsman and competitor. He raised everyone's game every time he raced at Lake Arthur and Deep Creek. We will miss him sorely. He was always so strong and resilient that we thought he would always be there when we sailors could get together again.

Very sad. Tom was an awesome sail racing tactician and great fun to race against. I wish we had had many more races together. He was also enjoyable to talk to about non-sailing topics. My daughters and I will miss him.

I was in one of Doc's first classes back in the 70s. He was in interesting, teacher, excited about his material. I remember asking him why a PhD would be teaching a bunch of high school kids religion. His response was that he wanted the opportunity to try to help us learn to think. He did that - whether we wanted him to or not. He had a unique teaching style, often imitated, not duplicated. Doc was a character, one we're better for having had in our lives. Sincere condolences to all of Doc's family. Forever True, Doc. Santo Collura NC '74.

Please accept my deepest sympathy. I absolutely LOVED working with Tom. He was brilliant, funny and compassionate. For the nine years that I taught at North Catholic, he always made me feel welcomed and valued. I spent many hours solving the problems of the world with him. May he rest in peace.
