Age 90, a longtime resident of Kennedy Twp., peacefully on Thursday evening, April 5, 2018, with his family by his side. Beloved husband of 63 years to Dorothy Karpa; dear father of Alison (Glen) Hall and Lynn (Gene) Ricciardi; grandfather of Alissa (Ben) Rudolph Verney, James Rudolph and Nina Ricciardi; son of the late Samuel and Esther Karpa; brother of the late Steve Karpa, Raymond Karpa, Genevieve Telipsky, Olga DiMichel, Walter Cooper, Mary Yakubik, John Karpa, Rose Karpa and Peter Karpa. Also survived by many nieces and nephews and other family members. Sam was a lifetime member of several chiefs of police associations, he was a retired chief of police of Kennedy Twp. He was very proud of his Ukrainian heritage and was devoted to his church, St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Sam loved to play the harmonica every chance he could. He also played for the seniors at many nursing homes. The Karpa family would like to express their sincere thanks to LifeCare Bellevue Suburban and Allegheny Health Network Hospice Care. MUSMANNO FUNERAL HOME, INC., 700 7th St., McKees Rocks, PA 15136 on Sunday 2 until 8 p.m. Additional visitation on Monday 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Ella St., McKees Rocks, PA 15136. Burial with military honors on Wednesday 10 a.m. in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
